Greater Atlanta’s own “Up Front†quartet is known for its all-around talent of entertainment with comedy, gospel and western songs along with the old favorites you love to hear. The singers in this quartet are:
Baritone: Mike Walsh
Mike is a 30 year barbershopper. During that time Mike was a member of Stone Mountain Chapter quartets “Landmark IV†and “River City Ramblersâ€. A retired computer technology veteran, Mike now has time to enjoy his singing hobby in barbershop chorus and quartet settings as well as church choir and gospel quartets. Mike lives in Loganville, GA with his wife, Patsy.
Bass: Scott Patzer
Scott is the bass singer with Up Front. He has 25+ years of chorus and instrument performances with local and church musical organizations in Georgia and upstate NY. Scott and his wife, Michelle, live in Snellville, GA and have two children, Zachary and Kazia.
Lead: Alan Smart
Our always smiling lead is Alan Smart. He is a published personal chef in the Atlanta area. Alan started singing with the society in 1980 and was immortalized on the silver screen when he sang with the “Ain’t Misbehavin’†barbershop quartet for the 2004 movie ‘Bobby Jones-Stroke of Genius’ Alan’s motto: “Never trust a skinny chef!â€
Tenor: Pete Pifer
The tenor of Up Front is Pete Pifer, a handsome and charming 50 year veteran of Barbershop and A Cappella singing. Pete has sung with the Big Chicken Chorus and Stone Mountain Chapters for over 15 years, winning 3rd, 4th and 5th place medals in International competition. He was Baritone with the “Run Abouts†Quartet, Georgia champions, and Tenor with A Class Apart, a comedy quartet and Dixie District Quartet Champions. He lives in Gainesville, Georgia with his wife, Sylvia.
