Rhythm & Reed is a high-energy DJ and live saxophone collective led by Philadelphia-based DJ PiERSON and internationally recognized saxophonist Samuel Yenn-Batah. Blending precision DJ craft with expressive live instrumentation, Rhythm & Reed delivers immersive, luxury-level performances for weddings, private celebrations, and high-profile brand activations.

At the core of Rhythm & Reed is PiERSON, a dynamic force behind the turntables known for seamless mixing, commanding energy, and an instinctive ability to ignite dance floors. A proud Philadelphia native, he draws deep inspiration from the city’s rich DJ culture, effortlessly blending genres in open-format sets that feel both current and timeless. His work has made him a trusted choice for elite celebrations and global brands including Nike, HBO, Porsche, GQ, Patrón, and the NFL. Whether elevating a black-tie wedding or fueling a fashion-forward launch party, PiERSON delivers relentless momentum from the first beat to the final record.

Bringing the reed to the rhythm is Samuel Yenn-Batah, an internationally recognized saxophonist, entrepreneur, and cultural curator. Born in Accra, Ghana and raised in Atlanta, Sam built his foundation through performance, mentorship, and entrepreneurship—launching his own saxophone business straight out of high school and learning from saxophonists connected to Stevie Wonder’s musical lineage. His artistry blends soulful saxophone, modern rhythm, and refined restraint, designed to elevate moments rather than overwhelm them.

Now based in New Jersey, Sam performs across Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, and Atlantic City at high-end weddings, yachts, galas, houses of worship, and luxury hospitality spaces. With formal training in music for wellness from Berklee College of Music and spiritual care from Princeton Seminary, his work extends beyond the stage—supporting healing, resilience, and connection through sound. Career highlights include performing as saxophonist for Cynthia Torres, being featured at Chef Robert Irvine’s Beats ’N Eats, and having music featured on Married to Medicine.
