artist bio:
Playbacks influences range from Augusta’s own James Brown, to it’s Southern roots based on the Memphis Sound (Stax); Detroit (Motown) and Philadelphia (TSOP). The band’s has a prominent horn section while drummer Tim Cox aka T.C., glues the rhythm section which also features funky bass and guitar. Vocalist Johnny Soul, an Augusta legend, rounds out the group, while Tutu D’Vyne is the group’s leading lady with a stage persona unmatched by any of her peers, worldwide. The group has shared stages with BB King, Lou Rawls, Freda Payne, The Manhattans, The Impressions, Maze & Frankie Beverly, President Clinton, Clifton Davis, Cicely Tyson and Motown legend, Mary Wilson. The group also performed at the inaugural James Brown Music Festival in 2006, just months before The Godfather of Soul’s Christmas Day death. The band is one of Georgia’s most-requested Wedding Bands
