Even though she hails from Boston, Massachusetts, Blayr Nias currently lives with her husband and two children, Olive and Wolfgang, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She claims living in these two cities has given her a perfect mix of Northern aggression and Southern hospitality. She moved to the Queen City after graduating from George Washington University in Washington DC, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Creative Writing with minors in Theater and Women Studies. While in college, she was an active member of the sorority Phi Sigma Sigma. She was elected to the position of Philanthropy Chair, which she held for 3 years. She also started the first minority centric theater group on campus, Majority Productions, where she served as producer and director.
Blayr started her career in the entertainment industry as a touring stand-up comic. She is still actively touring at comedy clubs, casinos, corporate events, and colleges. She opened for Fortune Feimster as she filmed her Netflix special, Sweet and Salty. Over the last 13 years some of her career highlights include winning Best Comedian – Editor’s Pick in Charlotte Magazine, appearing on the tv shows Fox “Laughs” and “Stand Up Nashville”, being a frequent contributor on “Couch Chat” on WCCB’s News Rising, opening for Katt Williams on his Kattpacalypse tour, producing the Almost Comedy Show at Charlotte Comedy Zone for 6 years, and performing in the Asheville Comedy Festival, Laughing Skull Festival, and Funny or Die’s Oddball Festival. She was a writer for the Wanda Syke’s produced show “I Love Us” on BET. In 2018 she released her first album, “Telling Jokes for Two”, which she recorded while she was 8 months pregnant.
In 2024, Blayr joined the ECE team performing as Business Manager in the Comedy Division. She enjoys that her new role offers her the opportunity to work with a mix of both clients and comedians. In her downtime, she loves to cook, hike, write, and attend Broadway musicals and plays.
