We loved working with Heads Up Penny! Through the planning process, Rushton was responsive, friendly, and accommodating to our various requests and desires. The night of the event, he helped us sort out some last minute first dance questions, played his part as emcee, and the band overall crushed it as far as the main reception was concerned. We’ve received nothing but rave reviews from guests! We’ll certainly be on the lookout if the band ever makes their way back up to Richmond, or if we make our way down to Raleigh.

Heads Up Penny was absolutely unbelievable - HIRE THEM RIGHT NOW! The lead singer/manager Rushton was a joy to work with…he was responsive, helpful, receptive to our suggestions/requests, and so hilarious and down to earth. We had so much fun getting to know him and knew from the first meeting that they were going to absolutely crush it. The night of our wedding, I don’t think there was one single song that our dance floor was not full to overflowing for. HUP did an incredible job of reading the room and playing all the songs we wanted, in an order that made sense for the crowd and their vibe. I can’t even count the number of times someone came up to us to rave about how this was by far the best wedding band they had ever seen, and it’s so true. At the end of the night, no one wanted to leave! When the time sadly came to being everything to a close, we had a private last dance planned while our guests set up for the grand exit. While we were waiting for them to clear the room, Rushton came down from the stage to congratulate us and ask how the night went - we could not stop gushing about how grateful we were for HUP’s talents and how much fun we’d had. If you are looking for a unique wedding band that will play a great mix of wedding classics with late 90s/early 2000s nostalgic sing along songs, look no further. Rushton and his band will absolutely knock your socks off, and they’ll do it all with a smile and an energy that you simply won’t find anywhere else. I can’t wait to have another event so that we can hire them again - they were truly incredible, and I will recommend them to absolutely everyone for the rest of my life. Thank you, Heads Up Penny, for the most fun night ever for this music loving couple!!!!

What an incredible band! And, just a really nice group of guys. They were so helpful in getting the music needs for the ceremony set up. Then, when the rains came, so accommodating to move all of their equipment indoors where they put on an incredible show. The guests demanded, I think, at least three encores and would have kept going - no-one wanted to stop dancing! I will happily recommend them anytime!

Thank goodness they allow 3500 characters bc Heads Up Penny deserves every single one plus more. They were the best part of our wedding reception! Rushton was a dream throughout the entire booking process all the way up to the week of! They learned and customized our first dance song for us, they learned extra songs just for us, and not only did they learn them, they NAILED THEM. I literally cant explain how amazing these guys are! I wish we could do our wedding all over again just so we can have them back! Currently thinking of an excuse for another party so they can play! The variety of songs that Heads Up Penny can play is amazing. Everyone at our reception raved about them and my older brother, who’s a music lover like me, described Rushton as smooth. HUGE COMPLIMENT. My 5 year old daughter keeps talking about them, EVEN BIGGER COMPLIMENT! It takes a special talent to do what these guys do. The transition between genres was impeccable and the vibe never stopped! Our wedding only had about 50 people and they didn’t let that discourage them from performing to their max potential. At the end of the night I was wishing these guys were my friends so I could just hang with them! So down to Earth, cool, and smooth :) THANK YOU HEADS UP PENNY FOR GENUINELY MAKING OUR BREWERY WEDDING A DREAM. I am forever grateful for everything you did for us and we will be coming to watch you guys play again soon! If there is ONE thing you budget for - it’s these guys. No if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. You won’t regret it and you’ll have everyone asking how you managed to get such an awesome group of guys! AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH!

These guys are ridiculously good. Rushton was a pleasure to work with leading up to our wedding on Oct. 20th in Winston-Salem, working with us on requests and setting up logistics. We asked HUP to perform music for the Ceremony and Reception, as well as MC the event. All was done professionally and sounded fantastic. This band's range is tremendous. Country, Pop, Rock, R&B, Soul, it all sounded incredible. Guests came up to us throughout the night asking how we had found them. To top it off, calls of "encore" echoed through the ballroom after the set was complete, and they obliged. I've been to a few weddings, and never heard a band receive a call for an encore. Hiring Heads Up Penny is a NO BRAINER. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I started looking for a wedding band, but no one seemed to fit our style until we found Heads Up Penny. They play everything from country, to pop, oldies, and R&B. We emailed them right away and Rushton was quick to respond. We scheduled a time to see them play in Raleigh, and booked them right after. Then we went to see them play at local places any other time we could. The guys were always sweet and said hi to us when they saw us there. They took our song requests and let us choose songs from their cover list for our wedding. We had a dry wedding, but it was far from boring. They had EVERYONE on the dance floor for most of the reception. We got SO many compliments about our band, and we are beyond happy with the investment. They bring an energy and atmosphere that a DJ just can't compare to. I would definitely recommend booking HUP for your wedding if you want a banging party.

I don't even know how to begin. My wife saw the guys play at a local bottle shop and absolutely loved them. She inquired about them plating at our wedding and they agreed. Their energy is electric. They put on a show like you would expect from Billboard 100 topper. After hearing the guys play at our wedding, I'm not sure anyone even knew we got married. All anyone could talk about was how awesome the band was. They span almost every musical genre from country to rock to even a little funk. Each member is at the top of their game. These guys seriously know how to rock the crowd. There are thousands of wedding bands out there for you to choose from, but please trust me when I say that no band can make your big day more memorable than HEADS UP PENNY!
