Susie Criner Managing Partner, GCE Founding Owner
Susie Criner began her professional involvement in music in 1979 with the restoration of the Heights Bank Building as the much-loved Rockefeller’s night club, for which she and her husband received the Texas Society of Architects Honor Award for Historical Redevelopment. They were also the major owners of Club Hey Hey and the Fabulous Satellite Lounge, two other innovative and long-lamented Houston music venues.
Susie is renowned for her expertise in the music business, having founded and operated Gulf Coast Entertainment since 1985. Her interest began with the programming of Rockefeller’s, to which she brought a lineup of international talent that will never be duplicated in such an intimate setting: Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, BB King, Count Basie, James Brown, and Tina Turner, to name just a few. Since that time, she has provided unique entertainment to private and corporate affairs in Houston and across the country, as well as programming multiple musical festivals. She has served on the boards of The Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, Stages Repertory Theatre, FotoFest, and the UT Press, among others, and has been honored by FreshArts and Diverse Works.
I’ve been arranging entertainment for a long time, but I still love the challenge of making the very best match of music to my client’s request. I hope I can help you too. My cell phone is always on! xo,susie- Susie Criner
