2016 Wedding Entertainment Trends
The days of Bridezilla and one dimensional weddings are long gone. Couples planning 2016 weddings are creating thoughtful, dynamic and meaningful events that, above all, give guests once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Wow your nearest and dearest with these delightful ideas trending now.

GO BEYOND SATURDAY NIGHT
Wedding Weekends are all the rage. With guests traveling from both near and far, couples want their guests to mix, mingle and have a blast the entire weekend. Welcome parties are gaining more attention since this is typically the first fête that brings everyone together and sets the tone for the entire weekend. Welcome parties differ from the rehearsal dinner in that they typically involve all guests or, at least, all out-of-town guests and the wedding party. You want the entertainment to be amazing, but different from what you have in store for your reception. Dueling piano acts are becoming increasingly popular and a fabulous way to engage your guests. Also trending are specialty themed bands… think Yacht Rock, a cool country band playing your favorite country/Americana tunes or a Las Vegas-inspired lounge act that jazzes up current hits.

After parties are also on the rise. While Grandma and Grandpa may call it a night before 10pm, many couples and their guests like to keep the party going after the reception officially ends. After party entertainment can run the gamut from the best club-thumping DJs to an unforgettable live band karaoke party.

THE BLOWOUT RECEPTION
After your guests have wiped their eyes from your sweet “I Dos”, whetted their whistles and feasted on fabulous fare, they are ready for one thing… to party! Studies have shown that 81% of guests say that entertainment is the most memorable part of a wedding. Don’t disappoint! Having an experienced and professional band or DJ is key to a successful reception. You want someone who comes prepared and has experience in dealing with all of the nuances that occur during a wedding reception.

DJs are an economical way to get your guests out on the dance floor. Their playlists are versatile and they tend to cost less than a full band. However, if your budget allows, definitely consider a band. There is just no substitute for the live music experience. A band is a dance party and an entertaining, interactive show all rolled into one.

Want to really wow your guests? A huge trend for 2016 is a band/DJ combo!

IT’S STILL ALL ABOUT YOU
Not in the “it’s-my-wedding-and-I’ll-do-what-I-want” way, but in the “how-do-we-give-our-guests-a-meaningful-glimpse-of-us” way. While some of your guests will remember you from your diaper days, you won’t have that intimate relationship with every person in attendance. Deepen your guests’ experiences by giving them a glimpse into what makes you and your new spouse such an amazing couple.

2016 couples are achieving this by putting lots of thought into the entertainment they choose for their big day. Did you and your sweetheart bond over Dave Matthews in college? Perhaps your ceremony music is instrumental versions of Dave’s greatest hits. Did your Dad sing you “Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong as a lullaby? Hello, father/daughter dance song. Does your fiancé hail from another country? Incorporate the music of his/her culture into the cocktail hour, reception or after party.

IT’S NOT ALWAYS ALL ABOUT THAT BASS
Exceed expectations (and guarantee your wedding’s legendary status) by arranging a few unexpected surprises during your event. In addition to the blowout party band or DJ, couples are also arranging fun, non-musical entertainment for their wedding events. From party painters and caricaturists to photo booths and slow motion booths, couples are arranging fun, interactive activities to entertain guests when they aren’t breaking it down on the dance floor.
