A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of spending a Sunday afternoon with the crème de la crème of Raleigh’s event professionals during the first annual The Wed Tour. The event took place at six venues across town with teams of vendors throwing faux weddings at each location.
We were assigned to the team responsible for turning the AIA NC Center for Architecture and Design into a jaw-dropping event space. Alongside Events by La Fete, Showtime Events, Green Planet Catering, Renee Sprink Photography, Sugar Euphoria, The English Garden, Classic Event and Tent Rentals, Cute Buttons Gift & Paper Boutique and The Band Punch, we rallied together and created an experience that could arguably rival any of the area’s top real weddings. The experience was a great reminder of how important good vendor relationships are to the success of any event. While there is obviously no requirement that all vendors should have prior experience working together, there is no doubt a certain magic that occurs when there is a synergy among your vendors.
Event planner at La Fete, Katie Dunn, elaborates, “As an event planner, the relationships that I have with vendors are the most important element in making a successful event. There are always going to be glitches and hiccups on the day of the event. However, if you have a team of reliable vendors working together with the same goal, then successful solutions are always the outcome. With each event I plan, every vendor has the same goal which is our commitment to exceeding the client’s expectations. You can’t ask for a better foundation to build an event!”
We couldn’t agree more. In many ways, our relationships with fellow vendors are just as important as the relationships we develop with our individual clients. It takes a village to raise a child? Well, it also takes a village to throw a wedding (or any large-scale event, for that matter). We are only as successful as those around us. A wedding is so much more than the perfect band, the perfect linens, the perfect flowers, the perfect timeline, and the perfect hors d’oeuvres. However, combine all of those aspects and you have yourself an awesome, unforgettable event. Working with vendors who are collaborative and supportive adds an extra layer of security that any event will be a smashing success.
Big thanks to Renee Sprink Photography for sharing her amazing photos from the event!
