“We wanted people to feel like they were at a party… the entire time,” reminisces Katherine Breland. She and husband, Coleman, were married last May in Nashville during an intimate backyard ceremony at her parents’ house with a blowout reception following at Belle Meade Country Club.
Natives of Nashville who often ran in similar social circles, Katherine and Coleman knew of each other, but didn’t start dating until their later years at the University of Georgia. Following graduation, the two dated long-distance as each hopped between different cities – Katherine moved to New York City then Nashville, while Coleman moved to Nashville then Memphis. After four years of long-distance dating, Katherine finally made the move to Memphis and the couple began a new chapter sharing the same zip code.
THE PROPOSAL
It was during a ski vacation to Aspen that Coleman popped the question – literally. Katherine was completely taken by surprise when mid-run Coleman popped off his skis and fell to one knee with a heartfelt proposal. Afterward, the couple celebrated with an afternoon sleigh ride and dinner prior to friends arriving from Nashville.
THE WEDDING PLANNING PROCESS
Following their engagement, wedding planning began in earnest. Katherine and Coleman were intent on providing an ultimate guest experience and wanted to make sure everyone had a fun night celebrating.
“The band was actually the very first decision we made after getting engaged. Once we figured out the band’s available dates, we went from there to pick out a venue, planner, and other vendors,” said Katherine.
Although Katherine and Coleman had never seen Simply Irresistible live, they had heard rave reviews from several of their friends and wanted their guests to have the same reaction to the band. They reached out to ECE Managing Partner, Ed Duncan, to inquire about the band.
“We worked with Ed and he made the entire process very easy. He spent time explaining our options and walked us through the contract, answering all of our questions,” explained Katherine.
Once the band was nailed down, the couple enlisted the help of Dori and the team at The Social Office to pull their dream wedding vision together in an easy and stress-free manner. It was the couple’s favorite part of the wedding planning process. “We really loved seeing how all of our vendors worked together to create something above and beyond our original asks.”
THE WEDDING DAY
When the big day arrived, the excitement was palpable. Katherine’s lifelong dream of an at-home wedding was fulfilled as she exchanged vows during the tented ceremony in her childhood backyard. Afterward, Belle Meade Country Club came alive as she and Coleman celebrated with roughly 400 of their friends and family during a festive reception.
“The entire day was one big favorite moment! We loved dancing with our friends and family that had traveled from near and far to celebrate our marriage,” exclaimed Katherine.
Katherine and Coleman’s wedding was beautiful with sentimental details woven throughout the day. It’s no surprise the team at Style Blueprint was equally as enamored with this lovely couple and featured the wedding on StyleBlueprint.com.
