On April 16, fashion and lifestyle influencers joined top event professionals to descend upon Weylin in Brooklyn, NY for the ultimate dinner party hosted by PartySlate and YSD Events. The soiree was fit for a queen. Rightly so, as it celebrated THE queen of wedding couture, Vera Wang, and the Vera Wang Spring 2020 Bridal Collection. ECE provided entertainment for the much-anticipated event with location managing directors (LMDs), Tiffany Guttenplan and Kaitlin Sweeney, on-site to experience the grandeur and ensure the evening was a top-notch success.

Before the Event

ECE Palm Beach LMD, Tiffany Guttenplan, first heard about the event from Justin and Brad at YSD Events in March. The three met last year when all were hired within days of each other by a bride whose wedding was a mere two weeks away. “Needless to say, we bonded during that experience and have worked together quite a bit ever since,” laughed Tiffany. When asked if ECE would like to participate in the Vera Wang event, Tiffany gave a resounding yes. She immediately called ECE Philly/NYC LMD, Kaitlin Sweeney, to see if she wanted to join forces. Right away, Kaitlin was in.

“When you have an event like this one where the asks are specific to both musical genres and the overall aesthetic, it can take some time to sift through all of the talent ECE has available to find that perfect fit. Because of our enormous roster of artists, we often work with clients who have very detailed and creative visions, and our task is to provide entertainment that precisely fulfills the concept set forth. Nothing is more exciting than seeing an event come to life,” said Kaitlin.

The Day of the Event

The day of the event was bustling yet in a calm and controlled way. Vibes of excitement and anticipation permeated the air. Many vendors were on-site each with a role to fill and task to accomplish.

“I’m certain the calm atmosphere was a result of the professionalism shown from such high-caliber vendors, not to mention the exceptional planning skills demonstrated by Justin and Brad throughout the entire pre-planning process. They are truly an incredible team to work with. Their laid-back nature set the tone for everyone else. It certainly could have been nutty, but every vendor arrived prepared, informed, and ready to work. It was one of the most flawlessly executed events I’ve been a part of,” stated Kaitlin.

It’s Showtime

Finally, it was time. As guests arrived, they scaled the grand entry steps of Weylin serenaded by a talented string quartet. During the opulent cocktail reception, guests sipped champagne and noshed on passed hors d’oeuvres from Marcia Selden Catering & Events.

The transition to dinner was one of high drama. The room went dark. Attention shifted to a single spotlight focused on opera singer, Sandra Eddy, who stood in front of majestic white drapes and performed a solo of “Habanera” from Carmen. At the peak of her performance, the curtains parted to reveal a candlelit all-white dinner-in-the-round.

After a few brief words from PartySlate Co-Founder and CEO, Julie Roth Novack, and Vera Wang herself, models strutted the circular aisle in gowns from the Vera Wang Spring 2020 Bridal Collection as guests dined on a three-course meal.

“The event was magical. I’ve seen a lot of beautiful affairs in my day, but this one was truly spectacular. The room was stunning, the fashion was breathtaking, and the entire event went off without a hitch,” stated Tiffany.

The Most Memorable Moments

For Tiffany, the most memorable part of the evening came when Vera Wang asked the name of the opera singer. During her speech, Vera Wang mentioned Sandra Eddy by name and asked the audience to give her another round of applause.

“It was a very kind gesture. It’s great to see our artists appreciated for their talent and hard work,” said Tiffany.

At the end of the evening, vendors hugged, smiled, and thanked each other. For Kaitlin, this was the most memorable moment. “It’s an incredible feeling to see everything we envisioned come to fruition. It’s an even better feeling to see so many vendors from all over the country look at each other and know that we did this together. This is an amazing community to be a part of,” said Kaitlin.

Experience the Event

Although the guest list was strictly A-List, the event was streamed live for a wide audience.
