Real Wedding: Bells and Brass in New Orleans

Brooks Nader married William “Billy” Haire in true New Orleans fashion on December 14, 2019.

The model and her husband wanted an all out New Orleans affair to remember, so they created a celebration of a lifetime from the picturesque setting in the French Quarter through to the local cuisine which included oysters from Brennan’s.

Entertainment played a major focus in the wedding, as expected for a city entrenched in a rich history of music. As the birthplace of jazz, New Orleans would bring the world such greats as Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet and Jelly Roll Morton.

For Brooks + Billy, entertainment included everything from their artists to greet guests at the reception, to the band that amped up the dance floor, and finally the New Orleans tradition Second Line musicians for a march through the French Quarter.

Following the ceremony at St. Mary’s Church, a cathedral that dates back to 1727, guests gathered under the entry to Old Ursuline Convent. There and waiting in splendid attire on the balcony was Paulin Brothers Brass Band, ready to perform as guests entered the venue.

For the reception, the bride changed into a strapless gown by Viero Bridal for a perfect day-to-night transition. They started the evening with their first dance, a Frank Sinatra classic “The Way You Look Tonight.” EastCoast Entertainment Exclusive artist Time Of Your Life played through the reception, bringing Brooks and her father up for Heartland’s “I Loved Her First.” Later, Billy and his mother danced to “Say A Little Prayer” by Arethra Franklin.

As guests joined the floor, Time of Your Life switched tunes to cater to the LSU fans. When Joe Burrow, the quarterback for LSU, won the Heisman in the middle of the night, Time of Your Life jumped into a rendition of “Callin Baton Rouge” in celebration. “Everyone went ballistic,” recalls the bride.

Brooks + Billy ended the night in true New Orleans fashion with a second line march, featuring Paulin Brothers Brass Band through the French Quarter. The destination? The after-after party of course, at Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar.
