ARTIST BIO

Buff Dillard and Friends is a Premier Smooth Inspirational / Neo-Soul / Jazz Band founded by Henry "Buff" Dillard. Currently in the Buffjazz Production family, the band has developed to be one of Charlotte's finest and smoothest bands. They're known to book out of town gigs, but have performed locally at the Bob Cats Arena, Kokomo's Coffee House, The Lava Java Coffee House, The House of Jazz, social events for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce as well as wedding receptions, network parties at private lounges and clubs and political functions. What makes them so unique? Well, some say that it's the soothing vocals of the soulful vocalist, while others say that it's the smooth-brassy sound of the trombone out front. It's not a very common combination, but it works and their friends and fans love it.

Born into a musical bloodline, at the age of six, frontman Buff sparked an interest for singing, drums and playing brass instruments. By the age of twelve he developed more of a passion to play the trombone and decided to focus on mastering the slide.

As a student of Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, his gift allowed him to perform with the Philadelphia All-City Jazz Band, attend jazz workshops instructed by the celebrated jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, performed with jazz sensation Pieces of a Dream as well as the legendary Count Basie Band. Buff has also worked with the Prince of Gospel, Pastor John P. Kee and featured as a soloist on the Strength and New Divine Destiny projects.

Buff has performed with, and opened for artists such as Shirley Caesar, Helen Baylor, The Williams Brothers, Angela Christie, Charles Wolfork, Vashawn Mitchell, SOS Band, Jasmine Sullivan, Kevon Edmonds of After 7, Willie Clayton, Dave Holister, Faith Evans, Jazz violinist Miles Jay Walter Beasley and Boney James. He has released a number of independent projects and has hosted a jazz radio show titled Jazzable Moments with Mr. Bonejazz on WGIV in Charlotte North Carolina.
